February 23, 2022 - Americus Garden Inn Bed & Breakfast

Sadly, we had to leave Tarpon Springs and Florida and start the long trip north back to the frozen tundra of Maryland.

But, instead of heading up Interstate 95, we diverted west through Georgia.  We were going to check out the notorious civil war prison camp in Andersonville, as well as Plains, the boyhood home of President Jimmy Carter.

We drove up to Americus, in south Georgia, which is in between Andersonville and Plains.  We stayed at the Americus Garden Inn Bed and Breakfast which was such a pleasant experience that it gets its own web page!  The B&B is a beautiful 1847 antebellum pre-Civil war mansion.

From the street.

Back of the BnB.

A park across the street has this statue honoring the Confederate dead during the American Civil War.  The inscription at bottom says "To Those Who Fought In Their Ragged Old Suits of Gray".

Scarlett O'Hara greeted us in the foyer.

Our room, very nice.

We were in the Scarlett O'Hara room, of course.

The breakfast was great, and the hosts Kim and Susan were most friendly and helpful.  Highly recommended if you are ever in the area.
